  1. “Conversate” is known as a “back-formation” based on the noun”conversation.” The verb is “converse.”

  2. Too bad this isn’t historically accurate

  3. Theirs not to make reply,
    Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die
My favorite part of the whole poem

  4. The true artistry of language requires no knowledge of grammar but an understanding of the depths of our souls.

And as with all things, art outlasts that of what grammar signifies.

@f1ozzy Any interpretation of this poem that allows the message of this poem to reach an individual is fantastic. The poem commemorates not only the significance of these events but a general sentiment that goes along with it

  7. Fuck football this poem was baased on the English soildures who died in the crimean war. I’m English with Russian heratige so this ‘story’ means alot to me. Poeple died in reality and i bet they didn’t do it to be rememberd for a football game. i love this move but this scene is wrong.

  8. “theres not to make reply,
    theres not to reason why,
theres but to do & die.
and into the valley of death
    rode the 600.”

  9. I’m getting that poem tattoo on my arm in a couple of months

  10. This poem is based on a true event during the Crimean war.

  11. Haha, I’m not sure if Tennyson was writing about LSU-Ole Miss

  14. Maybe you should learn my native language so we can conversate better.

  15. Whatever happened to English Grammar?
We name countries with a capital letter: England, Italy Greece, America.
‘ I ment to say’ should be ‘I meant to say’ and ‘western europe ‘ Western Europe’. ‘Theres countries’? ‘There are countries’. There is (singular) there are (plural). Do you get the idea?
If you can’t write about a subject centred upon English Literature expressing an understanding of the basics of that language, you can’t write with any conviction.

  16. That’s Jo from the Office! The CEO of Sabre, lmao.

  17. “Theirs not to make reply,
    Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do & die,
    Into the valley of Death
    Rode the six hundred”

  18. He was wrong, which would mean Wikipedia is wrong… but then I just checked it and it has it right.

  19. It was the Battle of Balaklava and the cannons used for VC’s are actually of Chinese origin that were unlimbered at Sevastopol by the Russians. I’m fairly sure that the Charge of the Light Brigade is recognised world wide as a British event.

  20. The Charge of the Light Brigade is the embodiment of what it is to be a British soldier.

  21. I ment to say western europe in that previous comment 😉
But sweden and japan, i didnt know rugby was big there.

  22. And Italy, and Sweden and Japan. Mate you’re wrong there :L

  23. I think that’s a song by the Clash isn’t it :L

  24. im one of the very few rugby players in belgium actually 😉 , in countries other than england and france rarely anyone knows what rugby or american football is so the same thing goes for that

  25. Actually it’s a rugby term, which was transferred to American Football.
