The Babes

We’re on our way to see, the greatest team, that ever drew breath
They call them, ‘The Busby Babes’, and, we love ‘em to death
A team of giants, led by the mightiest of them all
It’s said, that when Duncan played, he would almost burst the ball
Tommy, our centre forward, head and shoulders above
The rest of the team, that the whole of the world, would love
Every player, in their position, in that side from one to eleven
Would make it, in any side made up, from players in heaven
As if just to prove the point, that, they were a few, players short
God wouldn’t takeĀ  them , they’d never be harmed, we thought
But god made the call, for the babes to, join his eternal team
Because, that was how god, had planned the scheme
For depriving, we poor souls, left here without that side
All we can do now, is remember with pride
Keeping names, in our memories, and, hearts
Remembering forever, all of the games, and, starts
They made, before that fateful day, when, their lives were taken
And, football worldwide, to the ground, was shaken
But now, if you watch the stars, on some astral plane
If you look closely, you can see the Babes, playing again
