Chelsea ahead of Manchester City

Chelsea is 2 points ahead of their nearest rivals Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title which is actually surprising as Chelsea began to drop points in their last match of 2014 when they faced off with Southampton had to settle with a 1-1 draw and a few days later in their opening match of the year, Jose Mourinho’s team lost against Tottenham Hotspur.

Despite these setbacks that Chelsea recently sustained, they still remain at the top of the English League as Manchester City also dropped a few points and Manuel Pellegrini’s side could not manage to fully capitalize on the mistakes of their opponents who are making a serious charge and statement to become the new champions of England.

CescFabregas believes that his teammates have recovered from their defeat against Tottenham Hotspur.

“We have recovered from the Christmas schedule. It was tough but we feel that we had a few days to rest. There is never complacency at Chelsea; we just want to win every game. Of course that’s not possible through the season, there are many, many games. You can always have a bad day and things won’t go your way. But we are ready. Some of us had a little break’’

“Losing to Tottenham like we did was a shock, but when you watch the game again you see that every chance they had, they scored.

“It was one of those days where we hit the post, Ramires and Cesar Azpilicueta also had a chance.Things didn’t go our way, but credit to Tottenham, they played a good game. But that’s it; we are just looking to move forward now.”CescFabregas said.

It does seem like Jose Mourinho’s players appear to be bouncing back from their negative result as they claimed a 3-0 victory over Watford in their FA Cup match and a few days later they also came out on top when facing off with Newcastle United in a Premier League game.

Chelsea cannot afford to lose any more points as Manchester City are following them closely behind and even 1 point can be the difference between winning the Premier League title in this season or falling short, just how Liverpool did in the previous season.
