Away Days…..Almost!

Here we are again another match day eve
Making the preparations for the early morning leave
Going through the check list everything in its place
Away shirt scarf rattle a few beers for the smile on your face
‘Yep’ it’s all there you’re all set to go that’s so very plain
You set off Then you hear the game is off ‘cos’ of rain
Now what do you do without your weekend fix
You could be the old dog that did learn new tricks
Taking ‘er indoors on a shopping spree but  no
You do it once and then before you know
This treatment will be expected all the time
Which would leave yours truly without a rhyme
So lets hear it for soccer saturdays long may they reign
So each match can always go on without the rain

And We’d All Sing….

In the good old days we’d all sing 2-4-6-8
But that was when the team was great
Now we sing ”Can we ride your pillion”
‘Cos’ we need to know who is the next million
Pound player who we’re ‘gunna try to  buy is
And hopefully this time the gaffer gets his wish
To get yhe player he’s always been after
If not he’s said he’ll slap our squad even dafter
To pay for the list of poor results
And to save him all the usual insults
He has to take after every game
I’m surprised the press actually know his name
So now like lambs going to the slaughter
Let’s all sing 2-4-6 and a quarter

For George

You were the player whose feet were kissed by god
Adoring fans who worshipped every piece of earth on which you trod
Whether Uniteds red or the green of your home country Ireland
Shoulder to shoulder with you we all wanted to stand
We couldn’t all do that so we all watched you in awe
Counting every second ’til it was your turn to score
The knocks and kicks you took in your stride
Filling every fan and followers whole with pride
But now you’re gone the angels will sing
‘Cos’ god wants you to play in heaven on his wing
So goodbye George at least i now know
That in your footsteps one day I’ll follow
Goodbye George you were ‘Simply The Best’
